name - james "bucky" buchanan barnes / the winter soldier
summary steve rogers' childhood best friend, captured by the organization hydra during WWII, experimented on, and turned into a brainwashed assassin. bucky spends the next 70 years killing for hydra, with his mind repeatedly wiped and his body frozen when he's in "storage" until hydra defrosts him to turns him loose again.
runs into steve again during a mission, ends up slowly recovering his memories and is now finding out who he is in the modern age now that he's regained free will.
